Getting un-stuck and being comfortable with the unknown…

I’ve had my share of heartache, family deaths, moves, changes and uncertainties in my life.  I’ve moved over 40 times and have settled into the Ottawa area for the past 20 years of my life.  My close friends always remind me of how inspiring I am to them because “I get sh!@ done” and make incredible things happen… I am honoured they remind me of this regularly and that I have amazing friends.

I thought it would be helpful to share with you what I’ve learned over the years that help me get through the hard times and enjoy the good times…

When I feel stuck I do the following:

  • Make time everyday to work out (even 15 minutes)
  • Make time to journal (even 15 minutes)
  • Look at how I can add more greens into my life (juicing, or something else)
  • Do something for me, which serve no purpose except to bring my joy
  • Make sure I’m eating exclusively nutritious foods, or learn about it so I can improve my diet.

I remove the following from my life:

  • People that are hurtful and non-supportive of my life and dreams;
  • De-clutter my home, including clothes and things that no longer bring me joy;
  • Clear my schedule so I have more time for myself;

Then when I have a goal, I do my 15-minute miracle….

I don’t know who made it, or how it got to me… but it’s been a really great writing exercise for me to keep focused on what I want in my life and to listen to my heart.

Then I take action.  I write down all the tasks and steps I could do and how long each task will take.  I don’t have a set date for the tasks but during the week I take time to do a little bit of the tasks and over time things get done.  I do this consistently every day and every week. Sometimes I fall off my routine wagon, but then I get back up again and keep on going.

So this is the part, when you take action and you get no feedback right away.  Many of you including myself get very insecure, upset or sad that nothing is happening.  You need to keep working on things, and distract your self from the fact it’s not happening this very second.  So how do you trust? Well, here are some examples of practices; ways to make trusting easier in life when you are unsure of what to do.

Ask yourself how can I make myself have more comfort and ease during this process?

  • If you are in a job transition you will want to keep more savings as back up so you are not financially stressed or desperate during a job search;
  • If you are in a job transition and have a friend who recently got a new job, ask to see her or his resume to see how they structured theirs;
  • If you applied to a few schools for College or University and one of them says no, reach out and talk to the head director and ask Why;
  • If you don’t get the business deal you wanted, keep on going;
  • If something isn’t working, try a new perspective or take a break..

Never give up.  Nurture your heart and soul and make sure your having fun during the process.
